Ron
Hubbard
- Songwriter / Lead Vocals / Lead Guitar
Ron
started playing guitar at the age of 10 and got so hooked on the
strings that he went on to attend Grant McEwan College in Edmonton,
Alberta, Canada. After touring with Valdy and Leo Paul Ganett
he joined The Wildcats.
Ron
is fondly remembered locally for his time with The Buster Boogie
Band and as the Founder and Leader of The Truelys, who released
an all original Christmas Album in 1998, before moving on and
forming The Ron Hubbard Band who have opened for Dr. Hook and
Doug & The Slugs.
Always
on board for Charity and Fundraising events, Ron co-ordinated
an event in Sylvan Lake, Alberta on News Years Eve 2000 with The
Ron Hubbard Band and 5 other local bands that raised $2001.00
for the local Food Bank. Ron has had his band perform at fundraisers
for Wheel Chair Ramps, the victims of Hurricane Katrina and has
been available to help anyone in need or with a cause that needs
to be addressed.
Ron's
music tackles the issues of our time, such as Canada's Fresh Water
Supply, Nuclear Power and Weapons, Suicide and Global Warming.
Of course, there are also songs about old girlfriends too. Ron
says that he gets most of his inspiration for songs from current
events and cites the newspapers and media as his main sources
of ideas. He is happy to be releasing his latest album "The
Ron Hubbard Collection - Volume 1".
"Talent
with something to say" is a good description of Ron Hubbard.
Karen
Galloway
- Keyboards / Backup Vocals
Karen
started playing piano at the age of 5 and continued Classical
training for 10 years. Her piano teacher used to give her heck
because she was always rewriting the Classical pieces to the way
she thought they should sound.
Wanting
to learn some Jazz with the intention of being able to play with
a band, she enrolled in the Red Deer College Music Program and
graduated with a Diploma in Jazz piano.
While
in College Karen won the Shaw Cable Scholarship
2
years in a row and was involved in the formation of a band called
Pilot Project. She also played in a band that opened for Ponty
Bone and The Zydeco Band and Lester Quitzau and sat in with several
local bands until she moved to the Yukon.
Karen
also plays Trombone which she played in High School, the Red Deer
College Jazz Band, Symphonic Winds and, eventually, The Yukon
Jazz Band.
After
returning to Red Deer, Karen joined The Truelys for the recording
of their 1998 all original Christmas Album, A Christmas Celebration.
Karen
has been a member of The Ron Hubbard Band since it began and is
extremely proud of their latest album "The Ron Hubbard Collection
- Volume 1". She hopes that you will like it too.
Jimmy
Coulson
- Drums / Backup Vocals / Songwriter
Jimmy has
been "beating the skins" for over 30 years. He "boogied"
across Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan with The Buster
Boogie Band.
Also a member
of The Truelys, Jimmy's fine drumming style greatly enhanced their
1998 Christmas album.
Now, this
"really nice guy" is drumming for The Ron Hubbard Band
where his song writing and drumming talents shine with just the
right lyrics at the right time and the perfect drum roll at the
perfect time.
Jimmy is also
a Producer of the album "The Ron Hubbard Collection - Volume
1".
